History of PsykInfo

Psychiatric Information Centre is an independent organisation within the County’s psychiatric forum that is closely co-operating with the Psychiatric Administration. The head of the centre can participate in all management meetings within the different departments as well as in all meetings in the social psychiatric area. The head of the centre co-operates with the employees from the Psychiatric Administration. Furthermore, the centre can get assistance from other departments in the County. 

PsykInfo’s Background Group

In order not to be an isolated unit within the County it has been very important for the centre to establish a strong communication network, this has been done by setting up a Background Group, which task is:

• To be a think tank, an inspiration, and a dialogue group that exchanges experiences.
• To find resources, create attention and open doors so that the information gets spread out as far as possible.
• To find out what initiatives should be started locally.
• To co-ordinate the initiatives and the co-operation across the professional boundaries.
• To plan, support and perhaps participate in the different events.

The group have 2 hours meetings 3 times a year with the possibility of making ad hoc groups.

The group is composed of persons from the project’s original group along with persons, who work within and outside the field of psychiatry – this way we get the widest representation from society as possible. The group’s representatives are artists, people from the media, the educational departments, business people, and of course people with mental illnesses and their families.

The Background Group held its first meeting 24 October 2001.

PsykInfo’s Representatives

The Background Group is supplied with PsykInfo Representatives in the institutions, departments, projects, and organisations. It is contact persons who are enthusiastic about the centre’s idea and who will make sure that the information gets to and from the centre. The PsykInfo Representatives are experts in special fields and help the centre with keeping the knowledge up-to-date within special areas. In return for this help the PsykInfo Representatives will get the opportunity to participate in different events.
